With twenty years of experiences within the civil and insurance arenas, Richard’s practice involves representation of injured parties in litigation relating to construction site accidents, construction site defects, premises liability, slip and falls, property defects, cycling related injuries, car accidents, motorcycle accidents, trucking accidents, catastrophic injuries, dog bite injuries, negligent security, negligent hiring, wrongful death, contractual indemnification/additional insured issues and litigation of other negligence and dispute related issues.
Richard’s prior experience includes working as a Trial Attorney with Zurich American Insurance Company in the Boston Staff Counsel office. At Zurich, Richard managed all case aspects from initial investigation through final case resolution, whether such resolution was by direct settlement, mediation, or trial. He is intimately familiar with insurance company defense, evaluation, and resolution of claims and now applies that experience to benefit his clients when seeking compensation from insurers.
Prior to working for Zurich, Richard spent several years as a litigation attorney in private law firms handling cases relating to premises liability, personal injury, products liability, professional malpractice, workers' compensation, as well as general civil litigation. Richard educates his clients on the legal merits and process of their claims to empower informed decisions that best suit each unique circumstance.
Richard graduated magna cum laude from New York University with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Economics. He was also a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, an Economics honors society. Richard then attended Boston University School of Law, where he was a semi-finalist and then co-director of the Homer Albers Moot Court Competition. Upon graduation, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Frank J. Montemuro, Jr., Associate Justice on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, until returning to the Boston area in early 1995.
Richard is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys and avidly pursues outdoor activities, including snowboarding, kite boarding, cycling, running, swimming, and hiking. He has been a volunteer with Killington Ski area in Vermont since 1997. His diverse background includes stints as a commercial fisherman, framing carpenter, and a reporter on the floor of the American Stock Exchange.
